On Monday, June 29, the Council Chamber in Imola will host the closing event of Cool Noons, the European project focused on climate change adaptation in urban areas and on redefining tourism during the hottest hours of the day.
The event brings together institutions, researchers and European stakeholders for a full day of exchange and reflection. The morning programme will open with a panel dedicated to the key results of the project and the experience of Imola as a pilot city, with contributions from AVITEM, the American College of Greece, Imola’s Deputy Mayor Elisa Spada and Tecnalia. A roundtable discussion will then explore how to build heat resilience beyond the Cool Noons experience, looking at urban green policies and long-term adaptation strategies.
At 12:30, the international photography exhibition “Urban Heat” will open its doors, accompanied by the awards ceremony for the best shots capturing how communities across the five pilot cities (Imola, Dubrovnik, Lisbon, Budva and Marseille) adapt to extreme heat in their daily lives.
The afternoon will be dedicated to hands-on exploration: from 14:30, a guided Cool Noons Path walk through Imola’s historic centre will allow participants to discover firsthand the urban interventions tested during the project: new trees, benches, fountains and shaded routes designed to improve thermal comfort for residents and visitors alike.
Three years of transnational collaboration, five pilot cities, one shared methodology and a vision for a cooler, more resilient Mediterranean.
