Cool Noons summer 2024: Local Committees and focus groups

03/07/2024

Cool Noons hits its active phase!
Pilot cities are buzzing while organizing the first meetings: focus groups with citizens and stakeholders will be the moment to listen to various voices and involve them in the co-design process to make cities more appealing and liveable in the near future. Local Committees (made up by stakeholders, tourism boards, municipalities and institutions) will have the role of selecting the innovative solutions that will result from the design thinking process of the focus groups.

This well designed method will help Cool Noons partners to listen to all the voices representing the different shades of a community.
The goal? To make Mediterranean cities more welcoming for visitors and locals during these times of heatwaves and global warming reaching alarming levels.

Budva, Montenegro, just completed the first Local Committee meeting (that took place on June 25th, 2024), involving public institutions operating in different fields, tourism board, University faculties, local businesses and hospitality unions. All of these actors agreed that cities do need more Cool Paths, to ease and to cool down the city-visiting experience.

Dubrovnik, Croatia, had 2 different moments to present Cool Noons project: during the “Day of the European Union” Cool Noons was presented to Dubrovnik Vocational and Technical School, and Cool Noon Paths was a “hot” topic during the first Focus Group with stakeholders. Both meetings took place in May 2024. (Read more about them here).

Marseille and AVITEM team hit the Corniche, a popular road of the seaside French city, that in summer times is a traffic-free area, perfect arena to talk about sustainable tourism. It was the chance to invite citizens to participate actively in Cool Noons, by joining the Focus Groups that are planned in September. (Read more about them here).

Summer 2024 will be the first crucial stage of this Sustainable Tourism project, keep on following Cool Noons to see where our efforts will lead the project!
