In recent years, the city of Imola has made significant strides to improve residents’ quality of life and promote sustainable tourism. With over 110 km of cycling paths and a comprehensive green urban infrastructure connecting historic parks, gardens, and tree-lined avenues, Imola is becoming a model of sustainability! Since 2022, thanks to a climate adaptation strategy, the city has planted over 4,000 new trees and created shaded paths, enhancing the experience of walking and cycling.
As part of the Cool Noons project, Imola has selected two paths to be tested this summer. The First Path spans approximately 1.5 km, starting at the train station and passing through the historic city center. Visitors will go by Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Gramsci, and the Town Hall before proceeding along Viale Dante, flanked by early 20th-century historic villas. The route finally crosses the Santerno River Park, reaching the renowned Enzo and Dino Ferrari Racetrack.
The Second Path, also starting from the train station, crosses the historic center by way of the Torre dell’Orologio, and continues along Via Emilia to reach the Municipal Library and its Historical Archive. From here, it proceeds to the Sforza Fortress, surrounded by a vast green area, crosses Porta Montanara, and passes through Osservanza Park, Aviatori d’Italia Park, finally concluding at the Santerno River Park and the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Racetrack.
These refreshing paths not only offer a unique experience that blends cultural heritage and green areas but also help improve thermal comfort and promote more responsible, sustainable tourism. Follow us to learn more about the development of these paths and their impact on the city of Imola!
